Alberta Tribune is a new media project celebrating Alberta’s history, heritage, people and places. We welcome contributions from writers, historians, photographers and community voices across the province.

What we publish

We publish original work about:

  • Alberta history and heritage — the stories, people and places that shaped this province.
  • Business and economy — how Alberta works, builds and trades.
  • Energy — the industry at the heart of the province’s economy, and its future.
  • Civic life — communities, institutions and the questions Albertans care about.
  • Technology — innovation happening in Alberta, from startups to research labs.

Pitch guidelines

We accept original, unpublished work only. Please write in Canadian English.

How to pitch

Send your pitch through our contact form. Please include:

  • A working title.
  • A two- or three-sentence summary of the piece.
  • Why you are the right person to write it.
  • An estimated word count.
  • A short bio of about 50 words, plus links to two or three samples of your previous work if you have them.

What happens next

We read every pitch and aim to respond within five to seven business days. If you have not heard from us within two weeks, you are welcome to take your idea elsewhere. We do not accept press releases, advertorials or previously published material.

A note on style

Write for curious Albertans. Ground your piece in reporting, documents or first-hand experience, and double-check names, dates and facts before you file. We may edit for length, clarity and house style, and we will confirm any substantive changes with you before publication.
