Alberta Tribune corrects errors of fact promptly and in the open. We would rather carry a visible correction than a quiet one.
How to report an error
Send the URL of the article, the specific passage you believe is wrong and, where you have it, the source that shows the correct information, through our contact page. We review every correction request we receive.
How we handle corrections
- A factual error is corrected in the article itself, with a dated correction note at the foot of the piece explaining what was changed.
- A significant error that changes the meaning of a piece is corrected in the article and flagged at the top.
- A headline error is corrected in the headline, with a note explaining the change.
- Typographical fixes and formatting changes that do not affect meaning are made without a note.
- Articles are not removed to hide an error. If an article is withdrawn entirely, the page will explain why.
Updates to developing stories
Where a story is still developing, later versions may add new information. Substantive updates carry a dated update note so readers can see what changed and when.
